Established in 2023, built upon decades of design experience.
My path to interior design has been anything but traditional—and that’s a big part of what I bring to my work.
My interest in design started in high school, when my family graciously (and sometimes apprehensively) let me plan and make selections for spaces in our home. I went on to earn a BFA in Graphic Design from Iowa State University, where I discovered a love for visual problem-solving and the details that make a space work.
During my time at ISU, I was fortunate to apprentice with Traditional Home magazine, gaining an inside look at the world of interior design—from sourcing and styling to photography, editing, and the meticulous details behind a finished space. After graduation, I spent nearly a decade in marketing and advertising before realizing in 2019 that I wanted to create something more tangible.

That led me back to design and construction. I began developing my skills through real-world projects, detailed drawings and renderings, and learning directly alongside my partner, Joe, a contractor. In 2021, I joined a design-build firm, where I designed a showroom, worked with vendors, managed procurement, created marketing content, and collaborated with other designers. Those experiences gave me a practical understanding of both the creative and construction sides of a project.
In 2023, Joe and I took another leap and started our own businesses—Van Woert Construction and Dana Van Woert Interiors. While we operate as separate entities, we collaborate when a project benefits from our combined expertise.
Today, I bring all of those experiences together to create thoughtful, personal spaces with a process that is as practical as the design itself. I love the creative side of what I do, but I also love the problem-solving, planning, and details that help turn an idea into a home that truly works for the people living in it.
